Hello, and welcome to this course that provides three professionalism hours accredited by the Law Society of Ontario (LSO). This course is ideal for licensees of the LSO.
This course consists of three approximately 1-hour long videos and an optional quiz that provides you with a certificate of completion. The first video is with former Justice Colin McKinnon. The second video is with former Justice James Chadwick. The third video is a multidisciplinary panel reviewing the first video with Justice Collin McKinnon and discussing access to justice. Both Justice James Chadwick and Justice Colin McKinnon are former Ontario Superior Court Justices. Ernest G. Tannis hosted the interviews with both Justices when he was still practicing as a lawyer. After 47+ years practicing law, he is now the founder and president of the ADR Centre in Canada.
The LSO only requires the receipt from the purchase of this course as proof of you attending it. However, it is recommended that you keep your course materials in case you are audited. If you wish, you can obtain a certificate of completion after completing a brief, untimed 9-question multiple-choice quiz. These straight-forward nine (9) quiz questions will consist of three (3) questions per video that relate solely to what is heard in each video’s content. If you do wish to take the quiz, please print out the questions before you start watching the videos, and answer them on paper as you go through the course. A copy of the questions is available separately from the quiz in the course material for you to view and print out prior to viewing the videos. Do not open the online interactive quiz itself to view and print out the questions. Once you have completed answering all the questions on paper, please proceed to the online quiz to submit your answers.
Please watch this short video with Mr. Ernest Tannis – former attorney – to learn about the history behind the videos in this course.
